Like many great companies, the Bolus Company started at one of the worst times in economic history, the Great Depression. The company was founded by Mr. Frank Bolus. He was a man with a dream and a vision to build a successful business that would provide world class service to his customers, a better life for him and his family, and a better life for his employees. Frank believed in a few core principles: provide the customer with great service, dedication to his employee, and a strong commitment to safety.
He began the company by delivering baked goods to grocery markets for the many local bakeries in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. As time went on and the business grew, Frank along with his sons expanded the company geographically and also entered the LTL market. The area of operation during that time grew to include upstate New York, eastern Pennsylvania and the New York/New Jersey metro area.
1980, the era of deregulation was ushered in, which began an exciting time for the company. At this time, George Bolus, who was President/CEO of the company made a strategic decision to begin offereing truckload service. The company experienced significant growth during this time and expanded its’ geographic footprint to include the continental United States and the Providence of Ontario, Canada. Also during the 1980’s the third generation of the Bolus Family began to work and manage the company.
Throughout the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s the company experienced significant growth and increased our offerings to include; dedicated fleet service, crossdock warehouse/distribution, drayage, consolidation, and 3PL services. These services are in addition to our truckload services. Our customer base consists of some of the largest CPG, retail, food, and manufacturing companies in the world. Our company employs state of the art technology to help us, our customers, and our employees succeed.
Although our company has grown tremendously over the years we still believe in, operate under, and realize that our success comes from the same core principles that Frank Bolus, founder of the company, established so many years ago: providing the customer with world class service, dedication to our employees, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
